The Heart of Equestrian Andalucía

The Guadalhorce Valley has deep equestrian roots. Horses, riders and carriages are woven into everyday life here — not as a tourist attraction, but as a living tradition. A rich and varied community of traditional Spanish and international horse lovers, with all kinds of interesting projects and services scattered throughout the region. Cortijo Fruitful Hills sits right in the heart of it — a peaceful rural base with excellent road links, just minutes from the towns and countryside where so much of this equestrian life plays out.

The Equestrian Calendar

Vibrant festival scene at Cortijo Fruitful Hills with traditional costumes and lively crowd.

The Guadalhorce Valley has a rich and vibrant Spanish equestrian calendar — ferias and romerías bring the region to life with horses, riders and carriages throughout the year. Alhaurín el Grande’s May Fair includes a popular romería — a pilgrimage on horseback and by carriage that is one of the most atmospheric sights you’ll ever witness. Coín has its own Romería de la Fuensanta, and the wider valley hosts a variety of popular events throughout the seasons.
